Beagles are pack hounds - happy in company, miserable alone, and permanently attached to a scent trail. They are cheerful with children and other dogs, and famously difficult to recall once a smell takes over.
They are also vocal. The bay is loud and carries, which is worth thinking about honestly before choosing one for a shared building.
Care essentials
- Long-line walks and scent games satisfy the breed far better than a treadmill of laps.
