Is a Cavalier right for your home?

Cavaliers were bred to sit beside people, and it shows. They settle quickly in an apartment, greet visitors without suspicion and rarely bark for the sake of it, which makes them one of the easiest breeds to live with in a Dubai tower.

They are soft-natured dogs and do not cope well with long hours alone. A Cavalier suits a household where someone is usually home, or where the dog can come along to the majlis, the office or the school run.

Care essentials

• Brush the ears and feathering twice a week to stop mats forming behind the ear leather.
• Ask your vet to listen to the heart at every annual check - the breed is prone to mitral valve disease.
• Keep sessions short and reward-based; they shut down under harsh correction.
