Pugs were companion dogs in Chinese imperial households and have kept the job description ever since. They are calm, funny, tolerant of children and content with a short walk followed by a long nap on your feet.
Like the French Bulldog, this is a flat-faced breed, and that shapes everything about how you keep one in the Gulf. Structure varies a lot between litters, so open nostrils and a longer muzzle are worth paying for.
Care essentials
- Clean the nose wrinkle every few days and dry it properly afterwards.
- Keep them slim - excess weight compounds every breathing problem the breed has.
- Harness only, and stop the walk at the first sign of laboured breathing.
